Great for real ale and jazz fans, the pub has a nice family run feel.

I heard about this pub on a BBC radio 4 programme.I live in London, but my son is at York university so when I went to see him last week I said "lets go to the Phoenix".It's a wonderful pub, it has a front public bar with a real fire and four real ales and cider on offer. At the back is a larger bar which apparently holds live jazz. If I lived in York this would be my local.
